By on February 27th, 2012

Along with a higher-end version of the Transformer Prime, the Infinity Pad, Asus also unveiled a lower-end version known as the Transformer Pad 300. The Pad 300 is similar to the original Transformer Prime, but with a few minor yet important changes. First and foremost, the Pad 300 has a normal IPS display with a resolution of 1280×800, instead of the Super IPS+ display found on the Prime and the Pad.

Internally, the Pad 300 is same as the Transformer Prime and comes with a Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage space. Other key features include a microSD card slot, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and the usual bunch of sensors. There is also a 8MP snapper at the back, and a 1.3MP camera in the front of the tablet, which is also capable of recording videos in 720p HD resolution. The tablet will be running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich right out-of-the-box.

The Pad 300 can last up to 10 hours on a single charge, while the optional keyboard dock can extend the battery life to 15 hours. The company did not mention anything about the pricing or the availability of the Pad 300 so its anyone guess at the moment.
