Asus Working on Android Based EEE Pad

Asus had announced two new tablets, the EEE Pad EP101TC and the EP121 a couple of months back in Cumputex 2010. Both the tablets were supposed to run on Windows CE (Embedded Compact) which had inspired a few groans from those who had tried them out. Though attractive, the Windows CE interface was a bit buggy and unresponsive.

Asus seems to have ditched its Windows CE plans and will now ship the EEE Pad EP101TC with Android on board. They are currently working on a version of the EP101TC with Android 2.2 Froyo and may even switch to Android 3.0 Gingerbread [1] by the time shipping commences in Q1 2011. They plan to showcase the tablet in CES 2011 [2].

In other news, even Lenovo seems to be readying its Android tablet, the LePad for a launch by the end of 2010. The tablet wars are just beginning.
