In this generation of smartphones, blogging on the go is much more easier. The WordPress ^[1] app for iPhone is an example of how easy it has become to blog from a mobile device.

The WordPress team has announced that WordPress 2.0 for iPhone and iPod Touch ^[2] is now available for downloads ^[3] in the App Store. The app definitely makes it easy to create posts and manage your comments from the iPhone.

I tried the app on multiple blogs, but was hit with a weird communication error on one of them, even though I provided proper credentials. I am really not sure, whether this is a bug with the app itself or the blog.

The new app is packed with lots of features which include:

• A new, more efficient user interface that makes it faster to switch between comments, posts, and pages.
• Various user interface refinements and bug fixes
• New Comments interface, with Gravatars and the author URL shown in the comment list
• Passwords are now stored in the keychain
• Posts are now automatically saved and restored if network connection is lost during publishing
• Added persistence, so the app re-opens in the blog you last used
• Added an interface for manually entering the XMLRPC endpoint for non-standard setups
• Fixed rotation-related visual glitches
• Fixed errors where malformed XML prevented access to XMLRPC endpoint
• Fixed edge case where local drafts were sometimes not saved
• Fixed the order of photos so that they’re displayed in the order they’re uploaded/

There is no upgrade available for the older version of WordPress for iPhone. You will have to download the new app and install it afresh. You can safely uninstall the old app once you install WordPress 2.0.
