Read It Later Extension for Google Chrome
Read it later is a very useful service which allows you to temporarily bookmark URLs which you want to read later. This service can come in pretty handy when you want to read some content but don’t have the time at present.
With the help of Read it later, you can temporarily bookmark the URL and read it at your own leisure later on. RIL provides users with several options to view their temp bookmarks and read them, including a Firefox add-on, an iPhone app and bookmarklets for other browsers.

If you are using Google Chrome, you can now add URLs directly to the Read it later service with the help of a Google Chrome Extension. Once you have installed the add-on, you will be prompted to enter your RIL username and password.

Once you have setup your credentials, the extension is dead simple to use, just click on the checkmark in the omnibar and the URL will automatically be added to your Read it later account. You can then visit your account at your own leisure to read the content.

I’ve read through this twice now and don’t quite understand its use. Why is this different from simply bookmarking the sites in a folder for things to read later. I have a folder I mark “Reading List” and go through the reading list at my leisure and delete bookmarks as I read them. Someone really needed an extension for that?
@Josh Consider this situation, you are at office and come across some links which you cannot read, you add it to RIL and then read it on your way home on your mobile phone or when you get back home or for that matter from any PC.
The basic use of this goes beyond bookmarking, it is basically a easy way to access content you can’t read currently and add it to a centralized location so that you can then read it from anywhere.
I really like google chrome, but I only use Windows when I absolutely must. I really wish the Mac version would come out soon.
