My previous experience with Microsoft online services is that they will expire your account if you do not use the account within X number of days. (X is a variable number of days that they can change.) I have been trying to find an answer regarding whether the same is true for SkyDrive - everything indicates that expiration is alive and well and you could loose your data on SkyDrive if you are not careful.
