View html source for AJAX content with Firefox

Many sites use AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) to display the content to users. It has become difficult for both developers and designers to view the html source using the regular view source method when sites display content using AJAX. The reason is because the content is not actually on the page and is being dynamically added to the page.

If you are a developer then you should definitely have the Firebug extension installed it is a awesome tool that helps in developing and deploying web sites you can also debug AJAX requests and responses using Firebug. Firebug allows you to edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML and Javascript live for any web page.

Add shortcuts to your shortcuts

I had recently written a post on how to get your favorite folders in the places bar. But as unhappy I am with the limitations in software I always try to create ways with which things can be accessed easily without having to do much.

The Places Bar has a limitation where you can only have 5 folders at a time. I have nearly 20 folders I open or save files from so that is impossible with to add them to the places bar.

Remove yourself from the top commentators list

Top Commentators plugin highlights the commentators who comment frequently on your blog. It has been a great plugin to reward regular commentators since wordpress started adding nofollow to commentators website url in regular comments to thwart spammers. Adding nofollow to links tells search engines that they should not be follow it as a part of a link from the current site. Techie Buzz does follow all your comments with a DoFollow plugin.

Coming back even though top commentators plugin allows you to reward regular commentators there are many a sites that I have come across that have the owner of the site featuring in the top commentators section.

Find the right software for unknown file extensions

You may have come across lots of files which you can open in different software’s. Every file extensions have certain applications they can open in. Some file extensions can open in multiple software’s too, for example a jpg file can open in the default windows photo viewer or Photoshop or a custom software you have chosen.

When you install a software sometimes it is programmed within the installation to set up the software as the default viewer for a particular or multiple extensions. For example if you install Firefox it will set itself as the default viewer for HTM and HTML files. Of course you can disallow this from happening in the advanced options while installing the software or by modifying the options in your favorite software to set it as the default one.

View the Uptime since restart for windows

If you use a laptop then you will definitely know the ease of taking your computer around, another added feature is that you may not need to shutdown your computer as frequently you shutdown a desktop. Though the theory about shutting down a desktop can be wrong too.

I have gone with a couple of weeks without shutting down my laptop constantly putting it on hibernate and standby mode. In fact the only time I shut down my laptop is when I really need to when its running really slow or when some updates have been installed.

Add Breadcrumbs to your Address bar with QT Address Bar

I am not a Windows Vista user and definitely would not switch to it in near future unless I buy a new laptop. But few of the new features that Windows Vista has are really good and I would definitely like to have few of these in Windows XP.

I just took some time of my break as I could not resist talking about this nice little software that helps you get another feature from Vista.

Windows Vista has a cool little feature where it displays the navigation as a Breadcrumb just like a website does. Clicking on any link will take you to that folder thus making navigating a better experience.

If you are user who collects a lot of pictures from the Internet then you may be quite aware how painful it to navigate and save pictures from the Internet to different folders. If you segregate pictures into different folders then it gets even harder.

If you are using Firefox then saving images could just become a piece of cake for you which some cool and nifty extensions. If you are not using Firefox yet then get Firefox with Google Toolbar.
