Moomeo is a web tool that makes things easy. It let’s you share an email message with anyone by transforming it in to a public webpage. The resulting webpage will contain the body of the email you are sharing, along with the attachments). People visiting that webpage can comment on it as well as share that page on Twitter, Facebook and other Social sites.

How it works

1. Open your email program and send the email that you want to share at post@moomeo.com.

2. You will instantly receive an email from Moomeo containing the web link of your shared email. Here is how the email from Moomeo looks:

3. You are given a shortened url of the webpage containing your email message so that you can easily share the link in your network. You can directly share the webpage in Twitter and Facebook too.

4. If you wish to change the content of the webpage, first you will need to delete the webpage using the “delete page” link.

After that, edit your email message and forward it again at post@moomeo.com.

The converted email message is shown as an html webpage and not as an image or pdf etc. Users visiting that page can leave comments using the disqus commenting system. All the email address is hidden in the resulting webpage to maintain privacy.

The freeware will display for each e-mail account: the account name, Application, Server Type (POP3/IMAP/SMTP), Email, Server, User Name, and the Password. On enabling this feature from labs settings, you’ll see a google search box at the left side in GMail, this is different from the search feature already available in Gmail.

Searching for something using this search box will load the top search results in a box (similar to the chat and tasks boxes, but, a little bigger). This ensures that you stay right in GMail, even when you have to search for something, thereby increasing productivity.

You can insert the search results without copy-pasting by clicking on a drop down arrow that shows up when you hover over a result.

It’s kind of intelligent that the available actions shown by the drop down arrow depends on where you are while searching. That is, if you were composing a mail, you’ll have “Insert into the email”, if you were reading a mail there’ll be “Start a reply with the result inserted”, and if you were on a chat, you’ll have “Send this result by chat to”.

If you have keyboard shortcuts turned on, typing g and then / will take you to the search box when you’re not composing, and Ctrl + g will do it when you’re composing (that’s ⌘ + g for Mac users).

Tip: If you use labels and have keyboard shortcuts enabled, typing ‘g‘ and then ‘l‘ (meaning Goto Label) will pop up a box where you can type the name of the label and go there. You can see how this works in our earlier tutorial about Browsing Labels more Quickly in Gmail.

If you do not want to open up a additional application to be able to check emails, a handy freeware utility called IMAP checker, works as a email alerter, notifying you whenever new emails are received in your IMAP account.

IMAP Checker will alert you when new messages arrive, and allow you to open your default email application when you click on the IMAP Checker icon in the system tray.
