What I do is every 2 weeks or once a month I do a check on all the add-ons that I have installed and that have updates available. Next I fire IE7 (!!!) and download all these updated add-ons as xpi files (Firefox won't allow me to download them, rather it installs them directly), copy them on a pen drive and install them in Firefox on my 2 Windows & 2 Ubuntu installs. :) Phew!
