Intex To Launch The Cheapest Android Phone In India

intex androidLast month, Micromax launched the cheapest Android phone, Micromax Andro in India. Wynncom and Olive also promised to launch Android phones soon in India. According to the folks at Telecom Yatra, Intex Mobiles will soon join the bandwagon and will launch the cheapest Android phone in India.

After the successful launch of Intex V.SHOW, India’s first projector phone, Intex will launch the cheapest Android phone for around Rs.5,500. This handset will be powered by Android 2.2 (FroYo) OS and it is expected to launch in February 2011. Currently Micromax Andro is the cheapest Android phone in India. It comes with a price tag of Rs.6,999.

“Intex will launch four more models of V Show – a mobile phone with built in projector, which was recently launched. The new models of V Show will support Office applications and therefore be useful for professionals. People who want to watch movies, videos, picture galleries and even read e books on their mobile phones will also find some interesting applications in the new model. We will launch an Android 2.2 phone in the first week of February and it will priced at around Rs 5,500″, said Sudhir Kumar, Assistant General Manager of the telecom division at Intex.

The Intex Android phone will come with a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi Connectivity. Android powered Huawei Ideos is also expected to launch early next year in India for around Rs.8,000.

Samsung Announces Android Powered Galaxy Player

Samsung recently announced the Android powered Samsung Galaxy Player (YP-GB1). It will compete with popular music players such as iPod Touch and Microsoft Zune. Galaxy Player has almost all the features of Galaxy S except the cellular connectivity. It comes with Android 2.2 (FroYo) OS and it will allow you to access more than 100,000 apps from the Android Market. This device will be showcased at the upcoming CES 2011.

Galaxy Player features a 4 inch Super Clear LCD display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, 1GHz processor, Android 2.2 OS, 3.2 megapixel rear camera, HD (720p) video playback, VGA front facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, SoundAlive audio enhancing technology, T-DMB, microSD card slot, Android Market, Samsung App store, 1200mAh battery and more.

Samsung Galaxy Player will be available in three sizes – 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. The price and availability of this handset is still unknown. Samsung is also expected to unveil two new entry-level Android PMPs like YP-G50 and YP-GB70. Stay tuned for more updates.

Loop Mobile Announces Zero Wait Customer Service

HTC Desire HD Up For Pre-Order In India

We have a good news for those, who were eagerly waiting for the launch of HTC Desire HD in India. This handset was announced back in September, and it seems that, the powerful Desire HD smartphone is expected to launch during late-December in India. HTC Desire HD is powered by the Android 2.2 (FroYo) operating system and it allows you to access more than 100,000 apps from the Android Market.

The popular online retailer, Flipkart is currently taking pre-orders for the HTC Desire HD smartphone. Sprint Offers Sanyo Zio For Free On Contract

Back in October, Sprint launched the Android powered Sanyo Zio, manufactured by Kyocera. It is the first handset to feature the Sprint ID, which allows Sanyo Zio users to quickly download ID packs that deliver a predefined experience, including applications, widgets, ringtones and wallpapers. This handset was originally available for $99.99 on contract, but now you can get this handset for free with a 24 months service agreement.

Sanyo Zio comes with a 3.5 inch touchscreen display, 480 x 800 pixels resolution, Android 2.1 OS, virtual QWERTY keyboard, Sprint ID, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, MP3 player, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, 512MB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32GB expandable memory, Wi-Fi connectivity, Sprint Zone, Sprint Music Plus, Visual voicemail, GPS, upto 4.6 hours of talk time and a 1130 mAH battery.

Samsung Sells 30 Million Units Of Samsung Star

Samsung Star is the company’s entry-level touchscreen phone. This handset was launched back in early 2009. Samsung Star is already a huge hit worldwide and it is still one of the hottest selling phones in most of the Asian and European countries. Samsung recently announced that the sales of the Samsung Star have surpassed 30 million units.

“We are very pleased with the phenomenal success of the Samsung Star,” said YH Lee, senior vice president of Marketing for the Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung is aiming to take the lead in the global full touch-screen mobile and dominate the market with our diverse product line up and customized marketing approach.”

Samsung Star features a 3 inch TFT resistive touchscreen display, 240 x 400 pixels resolution, 3.15 megapixel camera with Smile detection, Digital Natural Sound Engine, 50 MB internal memory, 16 GB expandable memory, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0 and more.

Samsung Star is the second mobile phone from the manufacturer to sell 30 million units after the popular Samsung E250. Samsung managed to sell 10 million units of this handset in six months and 20 million units in just one year. Samsung sold 15 million units in Europe, 5 million units in Latin America, 3 million units in Russia and 1 million units in China.

Airtel Releases Mobitude 2010 – The Verdict Of Indian Masses

Airtel recently released the Airtel Mobitude 2010, a unique survey that collects the mobile phone usage trends across the counrty. Wynncom To Sell Mobile Handsets In 36 Countries

Wynn Telecom, a domestic mobile maker that manufactures low-cost budget mobile phones, is aiming to export its handsets to 36 countries. Currently Wynn Telecom enjoys less than one per cent market share and the company is aiming to reach third position in the coming years in the domestic brands range.

“The mobile handsets market in India is about 12.5-13 million handsets per month. Wynncom brand sells over one lakh handsets per month in the country. We are set to export to 36 countries. As far as Wynncom is concerned, we will start doing that after this financial year. By the time our Indian market would have established strongly.” said Arvind Vohra, co-founder and managing director, Wynn Telecom.

Wynncom recently launched couple of entry-level multimedia handsets with features such as touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera, 32GB expandable memory, MP3 player, Bluetooth with A2DP and more. Most of the handsets sold by Wynncom are Dual-SIM and they are available at pretty low cost.

Wynncom also allows you to send free SMS’s across India, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines instantly through the inbuilt software provided by 160by2. The company sources recently said that, Wynncom got an inquiry from AT&T Canada for supplying 3G handsets.

Idea Cellular Selects Nokia Siemens As 3G Partners

Back in October, we posted that, Vodafone has selected Nokia Siemens as their 3G partner. And now, Idea cellular commissioned Nokia Siemens Networks to supply equipment, build and manage its 3G networks in four circles Uttar Pradesh (East), Uttar Pradesh (West), Kerala and Haryana. Nokia Siemens Networks will allow Idea users to enjoy high-speed data and improved voice services in these telecom circles.

Last month, Tata Docomo launched its 3G services in 9 circles and this month Reliance Communications unveiled their 3G services in 4 important circles. Airtel is expected to launch 3G before the year end. On the other hand, Idea, Aircel and Vodafone will launch their 3G services in India by Q1 of 2011.

LG Unveils A155 And A120 Dual SIM Phones

LG recently unveiled two new entry level phones, A155 and A120. Both the handsets comes with basic features such as speakerphone, Music player, Dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) capability, FM Radio, GRPS/EDGE and so on. Sadly, none of the handsets comes with Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.

LG A155 is a simple candybar phone featuring a small 2 inch TFT display wihh 144 x 176 pixels resolution, Music player, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, MicroSD card slot, 2 GB expandable memory, Alarm, Calendar, up to 200 hours standby time, up to 3 hours 30 minutes talktime and a 900 mAh battery. LG A120 comes with a 1.77 inch display with 128 x 160 pixels resolution, FM radio, Dual SIM, dual speaker, integrated flashlight, up to 1300 hours of standby time, up to 13 hours of talktime and so on.

The price of LG A155 is not announced yet, but it is expected to cost less than $100. LG A120 comes with a price tag of 1690 rubles (approx.$55) and it is currently available only in Russia. Both the handsets are expected to launch soon in India and other Asian and European markets.
