Samsung recently launched two new messaging phones in India. The Samsung Chat 332 and Chat 335 comes with convenient messaging features such as QWERTY keypad, mail, instant messenger and native SNS clients. This handset allows you to keep your friends updated via. Facebook and Twitter on the go. Chat 332 and Chat 335 also features an optical trackpad, Active Sync (Push Mail App) and the Smart Homescreen, where you can easily create shortcuts, buddy lists and live ticker feeds from Twitter and Facebook.

Announcing the launch, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, Country Head, Mobile & IT, Samsung India Electronics stated, Consumers are increasingly wanting to stay connected with friends and family through SNS, IM and messaging while being on the move. This handset offers a touch sensitive optical trackpad for scrolling and navigation and convenient QWERTY keypad for easy and fast message input. It features a 2.2 inch LCD display, 1.3 megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack, FM radio, ActiveSync, SNS clients, 45 MB internal memory, up to 12 hours talktime, up to 588 hours stand-by time and a 1000 mAh battery. This handset comes with a price tag of Rs. 4,990.

Samsung Chat 335 features a 2.4 inch LQVGA TFT LCD display, QWERTY keypad, optical trackpad, advanced SNS apps, Wi-Fi connectivity, 2 megapixel camera, 3.5 mm audio jack, 8 GB expandable memory, up to 14 hours talktime, 1000 mAh battery and more. The Find Music feature in this handset helps you in identifying music playing from any source for the artist, song name etc. Samsung Chat 335 is the slimmest QWERTY phone available in the market. This handset comes with a price tag of Rs. 5,800.

Sanyo Zio To Get Android 2.2 FroYo Update On Feb 21

Sprint launched the Android powered Sanyo Zio during October 2010. This handset comes with the unique Sprint ID, which allows the Sanyo Zio users to quickly download ID packs that deliver a predefined experience, including applications, widgets, ringtones and wallpapers. Sanyo Zip originally runs on the Android 2.1 operating system, but Sprint recently announced that the Sanyo Zio users will get the much awaited Android 2.2 (FroYo) update from this week.

Sanyo Zio comes with a 3.5 inch WVGA touchscreen display with virtual QWERTY keyboard, intuitive trackball for easy navigation, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus and video playback, MP3 player, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, 512MB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32GB expandable memory, 2GB microSD card included, GPS, upto 4.6 hours of talk time and a 1130 mAH battery.

Sprint will roll out the Android 2.2 update for the Sprint Zio users starting from February 25th. The Android FroYo update will allow you to access more than 200,000 apps from the Android Market. It also comes with the ability to load apps on the MicroSD card, improved browsing experience, Flash Player 10.1, Bluetooth voice dialing, GPS enhancements and more. The Android 2.2 update will be pushed over a 5-day period, so please don’t panic, if you don’t receive the update on February 21, you will definitely get the it by the end of this month.

Samsung Intercept originally runs on the old Android 2.1 (Eclair) operating system. HP Pre 2 Now Available At Verizon For $149.99

Back in October, HP announced the first smartphone which runs on the HP’s latest webOS 2.0 operating system. HP Pre 2 is the successor of the popular Palm Pre smartphone. This handset is already available in many countries including the UK, Germany, Canada, Russia, etc. Sadly, this handset was delayed in the US for some unknown reasons. The wait is finally over. HP Pre 2 is currently available for purchase in the US, exclusively on the airwaves of Verizon Wireless.

Dell’s Tablet Roadmap Leaked; Windows 8 Powered Slate Coming Next Year

Recently, we posted the Dell’s leaked smartphone roadmap, which revealed some of the upcoming Android Ice Cream and Windows Phone 7 based smartphones. And now, the guys at Android Central shared the leaked slide of the Dell’s 2011 tablet roadmap. According to the roadmap, Dell will launch 4 Android powered tablets and 2 Windows based tablets, ranging from 5 inch to 10 inch touchscreen display. The codenames of Android based tablets are Gallo, Sterling, Opus One and Silver Oak, while the codenames of Windows based tablets are Rosemount and Peju.

Dell Gallo is the company’s first Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) powered tablet with 10 inch touchscreen display. On the other hand, Dell Sterling is a 7 inch tablet powered by the same operating system. Dell Gallo is expected to launch in April 2011, while the Dell Sterling will be available during Q4 of 2011.

Dell is not only planning to launch Android Honeycomb based tablets, but the company is also planning to launch Windows 7 and Windows 8 based tablets. Dell Rosemount is a 10 inch tablet with 1366 x760 pixels HD display. Rosemount runs on the Windows 7 operating system. Dell Peju is the company’s first tablet which runs on the upcoming Windows 8 operating system. Dell Peju also features  a large 10 inch touchscreen display. Rosemount is expected to launch in June 2011, while the Windows 8 based Dell Peju will arrive next year. Dell Peju might be showcased next year at the CES 2012 in Las Vegas.

Dell Opus One and Silver Oak are Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) based tablets, but the Opus One comes with a 5 inch touchscreen display, while the Silver Oak comes with a 7 inch touchscreen display. Both the Opus One and Silver Oak will be arriving next year. These tablets are also expected to be showcased at the CES 2012, along with the Dell Peju tablet.

Dell Smartphone Roadmap Leaked; Android Ice Cream And WP7 Smartphones Coming Soon

Dell is already planning to launch smartphones based on the next Android version codenamed as “Ice Cream”. The guys at WP Central recently shared a leaked slide of the Dell’s 2011 smartphone roadmap. According to the leaked roadmap, Dell will launch some powerful smartphones based on Windows Phone 7 and Android Ice Cream, later this year. These smartphones are currently codenamed as Wrigley, Hancock and Millennium.

Wrigley is a Windows Phone 7 based handset, which features a large 4 inch WVGA display with slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This handset looks quite similar to the Dell’s not-so-popular Venue Pro smartphone. It also features a 1 GHz processor, 8 megapixel camera with HD (720p) video recording and playback and so on. This handset is expected to release in the Q3 of 2011.

Hancock is the Dell’s first smartphone powered by the Android Ice Cream operating system. It will come with a 4 inch qHD display, dual-core processor, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 8 megapixel camera with full HD (1080p) video recording and playback, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video chat and more. Hancock is expected to be released in September 2011.

The last handset on the leaked roadmap is “Millennium”. It has almost the same features of Hancock except the 4.3 inch qHD diaplay and DLNA support. This handset also runs on the Android Ice Cream operating system and features a dual-core processor, 8 megapixel camera with full HD (1080p) video recording and playback, VGA front facing camera for video chat, etc. This handset is expected to be released in Q4 of 2011.

The Windows Phone 7 based Dell Venue Pro is also expected to get some additional features and enhancements in mid-April. Stay tuned for more updates.
