Samsung Galaxy Camera Launched In India For Rs.29,990

Samsung Galaxy Camera is the company’s first Android powered digital camera. It runs on the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System out of the box. Samsung Galaxy Camera was originally unveiled and showcased at the IFA 2012 in Berlin. Last month, during the launch of Galaxy Note II, Samsung announced that the Galaxy Camera will go on sale from mid-November.

This device was already up for pre-order at the Samsung India’s online store, but the price was not revealed. Today, Samsung finally launched the much-awaited Galaxy Camera in India. This unique Android powered digital camera is specially designed for those who wish to shoot, edit and share high quality photographs and video directly from their camera.

Samsung Galaxy Camera features a large 4.8 inch HD SLCD display, 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 21x zoom lens, Full HD (1080p) video recording and playback, GPS with A-GPS, HDMI, 8 GB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, Google Play Store, Samsung Hub, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G/4G Connectivity and a 1650mAh battery.

Samsung allows you to send text messages directly from this device. However, the voice calling feature has been disabled. Samsung Galaxy Camera comes with a price-tag of Rs.29,990 (approx. $540) in India.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Wi-Fi Gets The Android 4.1 Update

Samsung has already confused the customers by launching the Galaxy Tab 2 with 2 different screen size. The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 comes with 7.0 inch display and 10.1 inch display respectively. The 7 inch Galaxy Tab 2 is an entry-level tablet, which was shipped with the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. It packs a 7 inch WSVGA display, 1 GHz dual-core processor, 3 megapixel rear-facing camera, Wi-Fi 801.11 b/g/n and more.

Back in September, Samsung has announced the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update plans for 12 smartphones and 4 tablets, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. After waiting for a couple of months, Samsung has finally started rolling out the much-awaited Android 4.1 update for this device. Currently, this update is available only for the Wi-Fi variant of Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

The latest update is numbered XXCLK5 and it bring the usual Jelly Bean goodies including “Project Butter” software enhancements, predictive search capabilities through Google Now, smart keyboard and so on. This update is currently rolling out in France and it would be available in other countries in the next few days.

The latest update can be easily downloaded via OTA (Over-The-Air). You can also manually update this device by connecting it to your computer and follow the instructions on the KIES software. It is advised to backup all your data before updating the device.

Samsung Launches The Dual-SIM Galaxy Note II In China

Samsung Galaxy Note II is the company’s second phone/tablet hybrid device. It was unveiled in September at the IFA 2012 event in Berlin. This device is selling like hot cakes in most of the Asian and European markets. Samsung already managed to sell 3 million units of this device in just 37 days. Cashing in on the success of the Galaxy Note II, Samsung went a step ahead and announced the dual-SIM variant of this popular phablet.

The Dual-SIM variant of the Galaxy Note II will ship with the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. This device packs a micro-SIM slot as well as a full-size SIM slot. It comes with radios for GSM 850/900/1, 800/1,900, and WCDMA 850/900/1,900/2100 MHz. Dual-SIM Galaxy Note II will go on sale starting next month in China. There are no major changes in the specs of this device.

Dual-SIM Galaxy Note II comes with the usual 5.5 inch Super AMOLED HD display, sporting a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels, 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 8 megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash, Bluetooth 4.0, S-Pen, S Note, S Planner, Samsung Hub, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, 64 GB expandable memory, GPS with A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Google Play Store, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC and a 3100 mAh battery.

Dual-SIM Galaxy Note II comes with a price tag of 5699 Chinese Yuan (approx. $900). This device will go on sale from December 3 in China. Samsung has not yet announced the availability of this device for other major markets.

Verizon Droid Razr M Gets The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update

Back in September, Motorola announced the mid-range Droid Razr M, along with the Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr HD Maxx. These handsets were exclusively available for the Verizon subscribers in the US. Droid Razr M comes with a 4.3 inch qHD display, 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 8 megapixel camera, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, 4G connectivity and much more.

Sadly, this handset was shipped with the old Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. Motorola has already promised to roll out the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update before the end of this year. Now, it seems that the manufacturer has fulfilled its promise 50 days in advance. Verizon has finally started rolling out the Android 4.1 update for the Droid Razr M smartphones. It comes with the usual Jelly Bean goodies such as Google Now, enhanced notification panel that displays missed calls and emails, voice search, smart keyboard and more. HTC One SV Announced; Comes With 4.3 Inch Display, 1.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor

Earlier this week, HTC announced the new HTC One SV smartphone. This handset looks quite similar to the previously launched HTC Desire SV. It comes with a 4.3 inch display as well as 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. HTC One SV is a single-SIM smartphone, which runs on the old Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. The company has also promised to roll out the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for this device in the coming months.

HTC One SV features a 4.3 inch Super LCD 2 touchscreen display, sporting a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS, HTC Sense 4 UI, 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash, full HD (1080p) video recording and playback, 1.6 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and much more.

HTC recently announced the mid-range Desire SV smartphone. This handset is specially targeted at the emerging market of Asia including India. HTC Desire SV is a dual-SIM smartphone, which runs on the old Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. This handset is basically an upgraded version of the dual-SIM Desire V smartphone. The company has also promised to roll out the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for this device in the coming months.

Sadly, this handset does not feature a front-facing camera for video calls. This device will be available in Radical Yellow and Stealth Black colors. HTC Desire SV comes with a price tag of Rs.22.590 (approx. $420) in India. This handset will go on sale during the second half of this month.

3 Million Samsung Galaxy Note II Units Shipped Globally

Some of you might even remember that during the launch of this device Samsung’s JK Shin said that the company will sell more than 20 million units of Galaxy Note II globally within 12 months. Today, Samsung announced that the company managed to sell 3 million units of this device in just 37 days!

Sony Xperia J is a budget smartphone targeted at the emerging market of Asia including India. On the other hand, Xperia Miro is targeted at the Facebook users who spend most of their time updating status and getting connected with their friends on the go. Sony recently launched the Xperia SL smartphone in India. This handset is basically the upgraded variant of the popular Xperia S smartphone. This is not all, as the pic shown below, the Verizon’s variant of Galaxy Note II will sport the ugly carrier logo on the home button! Verizon Droid Bionic Gets The Android 4.0.4 ICS Update

Last year, Motorola launched the powerful Droid Bionic smartphone, exclusively for the Verizon subscribers in the US. This handset comes with a 4.3 inch qHD display, 1 GHz dual-core processor, 8 megapixel camera with full HD (1080p) video recording and much more. Motorola Droid Bionic was originally shipped with the old Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System.

Motorola has promised the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for this smartphone. On the other hand, the owners of this device were eagerly waiting for the Android 4.0 update from the last 6 months. Today, Verizon finally started rolling out the last major update for the Droid Bionic. You guessed it right!

Airtel Launches 4G Services In Pune

We have good news for the folks living in Pune. Earlier this year, Airtel rolled out its 4G services in Kolkata followed by Bengaluru. Now, Airtel went a step ahead and launched the much-awaited 4G services in Pune. Airtel is also the first company in Maharashtra to bring the 4G experience for its customers. Currently, Airtel 4G services are exclusively available for the post-paid customers, however the company has promised that pre-paid subscribers will be able to join the bandwagon in the coming days.

Mr. K Srinivas, President – Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel said,
“Today, we are excited to launch Maharashtra’s first 4G experience for Airtel customers in Pune. The response received by Airtel 4G services in Kolkata and Bengaluru has been compelling – thus reinforcing our long term focus on delivering technologies to fulfil the needs of India’s rapidly growing data evolution story. With both home and office users opting for 4G services, it is heartening to see early adopters of this technology acknowledge the experience that Airtel 4G delivers – for everything from streaming videos and downloading music, to accessing business applications, email and rich multimedia content. In 2010, Airtel had successfully bid for BWA license spectrum in Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) circles. Additionally, Airtel acquired 49 percent interest in Qualcomm AP’s India entities that hold BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. The company has already launched its 4G LTE services in Kolkata, Bengaluru and Maharashtra (Pune) and is currently working towards rolling out the 4G network in remaining licence circles.

Airtel customers in Pune can check the availability of Airtel 4G services in their area online through the Google Maps interface and buy the services online. Airtel’s 4G services allows the users to access High Definition (HD) videos, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos, rich content and much more. The postpaid plans in Pune are similar to the plans available in Kolkata and Bengaluru circles. Airtel offers 3 different 4G plans starting at Rs.999 for 6 GB of free data, going up to Rs.1,999 for 18 GB of free data usage.

Acer Iconia Tab A110 Coming To The US And Canada On October 30 For $230

Acer is back in the US and Canadian market with its latest tablet device, the Acer Iconia Tab A110. Yes, this is the same tablet which was unveiled last month. The Acer Iconia Tab A110 is basically an entry-level tablet, which will compete with the popular Android tablets such as the Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire 2. This handset runs on the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating system out of the box. The specs of this device is similar to the Google Nexus 7.

HTC J Butterfly Announced In Japan; Comes With 5 Inch Display, S4 Pro, Android 4.1 OS

It was already rumored that the Taiwanese mobile phone maker is planning to launch a 5 inch phablet, similar to the Samsung’s Galaxy Note family of smartphones. Today, HTC finally went ahead and announced the new HTC J Butterfly smartphone in Japan. As expected, this device comes with a large 5 inch 1080p display along with 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM and a disappointing battery.

HTC J Butterfly will be exclusively available for the KKDI subscribers in Japan. You will have to wait for a couple of months to get your hands-on this device since HTC is planning to release the company’s first phone-tablet hybrid device at the end of this year. HTC is also expected to launch a similar smartphone in other major markets.

HTC J Butterfly features a 5 inch Super LCD 3 display, sporting a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro processor, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, 3.5 mm headset jack, Google Play Store, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC (Near Field Communication), HDMI-out, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA and 2020 mAh battery. This handset measures 143 x 71 x 9.1 mm and weighs 140g.

HTC J Butterfly is also a dust-proof and waterproof smartphone. This handset will be available in red, black and white colors. The price of this device will be announced in the coming weeks,
