Samsung recently announced 4 new touchscreen feature-phones in India. As the name suggests, Rex 60, Rex 70, Rex 80 and Rex 90 are the part of the new Rex family and it will directly compete with the Nokia’s successful Asha range of entry-level phones. These handsets are powered by Java based Operating System and packs some useful social networking apps such as Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Gtalk, Yahoo Messenger, Samsung ChatOn and more.

Micromax A116 Canvas HD Goes On Sale In India For Rs.13,990

Last month, Micromax unveiled the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean powered Canvas HD smartphone in India. This handset packs some powerful specs including a 5 inch HD display as well as a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. However, the Indian mobile phone manufacturer surprised everyone with its ultra cheap price tag. Today, Micromax finally launched this smartphone in India. The Micromax A116 Canvas HD features a 5 inch HD IPS display, sporting a resolution of 1280 x 720p pixels, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, dual-SIM capabilities, 8 megapixel rear camera with flash, 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, 1 GB RAM, Wi-Fi Hotspot functionality and much more.

Micromax A116 Canvas HD was previously announced with a price-tag of Rs.14,999, however the company is currently selling this device for just Rs.13,990 (approx. $260). This handset will compete with the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Grand in the Indian market. Nokia Asha 310 Announced; Comes With Easy Swap Dual SIM and Wi-Fi

Nokia recently unveiled the newest member of its Asha family, the Nokia Asha 310. It is the company’s first dual-SIM device which comes with the much needed Wi-Fi connectivity. The Nokia Asha 310 comes pre-loaded with Nokia Xpress Browser, which compresses Internet data by up to 90% and delivers a fast browsing experience. This handset comes with the Nokia’s unique Easy Swap technology which allows you to switch SIM cards without turning off the phone.

Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia, said:
“The Nokia Asha 310 is the first-ever Nokia smartphone to offer both Easy Swap Dual SIM and Wi-Fi in the same device. Nokia Asha 310 features a 3.0 inch WQVGA scratch resistant capacitive touchscreen display, sporting a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels, Series 40 Asha Touch, 1 GHz processor, 2 megapixel camera, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi Connectivity, Internet Radio, loud and clear inbuilt speaker, Nokia Life, 2.0 mm charger connector, Bluetooth 2.1, Micro USB 2.0 and so on.

Other features include a 3.5 mm headset jack, Music player, FM Radio, 20 MB internal memory, 32 GB expandable memory, Micro SD card slot, 4 GB Micro SD card bundled, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient Light sensor, Nokia Browser, up to 25 days of stand-by time, up to 17 hours of talk-time and a 1110 mAh battery.

Nokia Asha 310 measures 109.9 mm x 54 mm x 13 mm and weighs just 104 grams. This handset will be available in Black, White and Golden Light colors. The Nokia Asha 310 comes with a price tag of $102 (approx. Rs.5,500) excluding taxes. This handset will go on sale from the Q1 of 2013 in Asia, India, the Middle East, Africa and Brazil.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Wi-Fi Goes On Sale In India For Rs.13,900

Last year, Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 2 3G as well as Tab 2 Wi-Fi at the Mobile World Congress (2012) in Barcelona. The South Korean manufacturer has already launched the 3G variant of this tablet in India, however the company failed to launch the Wi-Fi variant due to unknown reasons. In the meantime, Indian as well as global manufacturers has launched a number of Android tablets in the Indian market.

Exactly one year after its official announcement, Samsung finally launched the Galaxy Tab 2 P3110 Wi-Fi in the Indian market. Thankfully, this device is shipped with the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. We are not sure if anyone will be willing to buy this device, when you can get a much powerful device from Asus, Acer, Micromax and Lava at a cheaper price. BlackBerry Q10 Unveiled; First BlackBerry 10 QWERTY Device

Along with the BlackBerry Z10, the Canadian mobile phone manufacturer has also launched the new BlackBerry Q10 smartphone. It is the first smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen display which runs on the latest BlackBerry 10 Operating System. The specs of this device is almost similar to the BlackBerry Z10. This handset allows you to access more than 70,000 apps from the BlackBerry World.

T-Mobile and AT&T has already announced its plan to launch the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone in the US. However, the price and release date of this smartphone is still a mystery. The BlackBerry Q10 is expected to go on sale from Q2 of 2013.

BlackBerry Z10 Announced; First BB10 Powered Smartphone

BlackBerry recently launched its much-awaited BlackBerry 10 Operating System. It is a re-designed, re-engineered and re-invented BlackBerry platform that creates a powerful and unique new mobile experience. The manufacturer has also unveiled the first smartphone to run on this new OS, the BlackBerry Z10. It is the company’s flagship smartphone, designed to compete against the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III.

BlackBerry Z10 features a 4.2 inch 4 point multi-touch LCD display, sporting a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels, Touch On Lens, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, BlackBerry 10 OS, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with auto-focus and 5X digital zoom, full HD (1080p) video recording and playback, 2 megapixel front facing camera with 3X digital zoom, HD (720p) video recording and much more.

BlackBerry Z10 will be available beginning tomorrow in the UK on pay monthly contracts and pre-pay plans from EE, O2, Vodafone, Phones 4u, BT, 3UK and the Carphone Warehouse. In Canada, the BlackBerry Z10 will be available on February 5th for around $149.99 on a 3-year contract. In the UAE, the BlackBerry Z10 will be available on February 10th for AED 2,599. This handset is expected to go on sale from March in the US.

Huawei Ascend G330 Launched In India For Rs.11,490

Along with the Ascend G600, Huawei has also launched the Android powered Ascend G330 smartphone in India. This handset comes with entry-level specs including a 4 inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM and much more. Sadly, the device is being shipped with the out-dated Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. We are not sure if the manufacturer will upgrade this device to the newer version of Android. The Huawei Ascend G330 offers 7 Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati & Punjabi.

Huawei Ascend G330 comes with a price-tag of Rs.11,490 (approx. $210) in India. This handset will compete with other entry-level Android smartphones such as Micromax A101, Xperia Tipo and HTC Explorer in the Indian market. Huawei Ascend G330 can be easily purchased from online channels like Flipkart, Infibeam, Snapdeal as well as from retailers such as Reliance Digital, Croma and Huawei Experience outlets.

Samsung Galaxy Pop Announced In South Korea; Quad-Core Version Of Galaxy Premier

Back in November, Samsung unveiled the Android powered Galaxy Premier smartphone for international markets. Today, the South Korean manufacturer launched this smartphone in its home country. However, the device has been renamed from Galaxy Premier to Galaxy Pop. Samsung has also upgraded the dual-core processor to quad-core processor. Apart from that, there are no major changes in the specs of this device.

I’m sure some of you might get confused with the previously launched Android Gingerbread powered Galaxy Pop. However, the new Galaxy Pop (SHV-E220S) looks strikingly similar to the Galaxy S III smartphone and runs on the newer Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. This device will be available across all three major carriers – SKT, LG U+ and KT in South Korea.

Huawei Ascend G600 Launched In India For Rs.14,990

Back in August, Huawei introduced a new member in its Ascend family of smartphones, the Huawei Ascend G600. After waiting for nearly 5 months, the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer finally launched this mid-range smartphone in India. This handset packs a 4.5 inch display as well as a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It runs on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System and the device is likely to get the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update in the coming weeks.
