Verizon Samsung Stratosphere Gets A Software Update

Back in 2011, Samsung launched the entry-level Stratosphere smartphone for the Verizon Wireless subscribers in the US. This handset was specially designed for those who wanted to experience a touchscreen smartphone with physical QWERTY keypad. Samsung Stratosphere was originally shipped with the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Operating System. Sadly, this handset failed to receive the newer Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS.

Later this week, Verizon will roll out a much-needed software update for the Stratosphere users. Before you get too excited, let me tell you that the update will not bring the Android 4.0 OS. This update brings improved call clarity, improved reliability when sending emails using Outlook and much more. The complete changelog is posted below.

Huawei A199 Announced In China; Comes With 5 Inch HD Display, Android 4.1 OS

Huawei recently announced the mid-range Huawei A199 smartphone in its home country. This handset was previously leaked by @evleaks as the Huawei Ascend G710. However, the manufacturer decided to launch this device with a brand new name in China. The Huawei A199 packs a 5 inch HD display and a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor.

This handset runs on the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top of it. Huawei A199 also comes with dual-mode dual-SIM support, which works perfectly on a CDMA network as well as on a GSM network at the same time. Check out the complete specs below.

Huawei Ascend A199 features a 5 inch HD touch screen display, sporting a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, 1.5 GHz Huawei K3V2 quad-core processor, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, Huawei Emotion UI, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with auto-focus and LED flash, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and so on.

The China Telecom logo is placed right below the camera. It clearly indicates that the Huawei A199 will be available for China Telecom subscribers at launch. Samsung Galaxy S4 To Launch In India On April 26

Last month, Samsung unveiled the much-awaited Galaxy S4 smartphone at the New York’s iconic Radio City Music Hall. Samsung has not revealed the price of this device, however the company has announced that the Galaxy S4 will go on sale from April-end in Europe and Asia. Today, Samsung India has finally started sending out the invites for the Galaxy S4 launch. As expected, this device will be officially launched on Friday, April 26 in India.

LG Optimus L5 II Dual Now Available In India For Rs.11,499

Earlier this year, LG announced three new Android powered smartphones, the Optimus L7 II, Optimus L5 II and Optimus L3 II. The South Korean mobile phone manufacturer has already launched the dual-SIM variant of Optimus L7 II and Optimus L3 II in India. Infibeam, a popular online retailer has already started selling the Optimus L5 II Dual smartphone. This indicates that the company will soon launch the Optimus L5 II Dual in India.

HTC Desire L Launched In Taiwan

Earlier this month, HTC launched the Desire P smartphone in Taiwan, Now, the Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer has launched yet another mid-range smartphone in its home country. The HTC Desire L packs a 4.3 inch touchscreen display with 1 GHz dual-core processor. This handset is expected to be shipped with the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. HTC Desire L is basically a larger version of the HTC Desire X smartphone.

Alcatel One Touch Idol And Idol Ultra Launched In India

Earlier this year, Alcatel unveiled the One Touch Idol and One Touch Idol Ultra at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 in Las Vegas. These mid-range smartphones are powered by the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. The Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra is touted to be the world’s thinnest smartphone with just 6.45 millimeters thickness. Today, Alcatel finally launched the One Touch Idol and One Touch Idol Ultra smartphones in India.

ZTE Geek Announced; Comes With 2 GHz Intel Clover Trail+ Processor

Earlier this week, ZTE announced the powerful ZTE Geek smartphone at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Beijing. This handset runs on the latest Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) Operating System and packs a 5 inch HD display along with Intel’s new Clover Trail+ based Atom Z2580 processor. According to ZTE, this handset is twice as fast for computing and three times as fast for graphics compared to the phones powered by Intel’s previous processor.

Lava recently launched the entry-level Iris 455 smartphone in India. This handset is the successor of the Lava Iris 454 smartphone. Similar to its predecessor, Lava Iris 455 comes with a large 4.5 inch display and a 1 GHz dual-core processor. However, it will be shipped with the newer Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, instead of the old Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS.
