Dawn of War Gold Edition 50% Off on Impulse

If you are expecting a long drawn post on what exactly makes the Dawn of War (DoW) series of games so darn good, then you will be disappointed. I do not think I can objectively look at a game that I played through high school with earnest. Sure, it was a gory, violent game. Sure, it was rated M and I played it just as I entered my teens. It’s not like I’ve managed to become a serial chaos killer now, have I?

I have, however, become a lover of all things Warhammer: 40,000.

So, when I hear Dawn of War Gold Edition is 50% Off on Impulsein my email, I can only tell you, reader, to go ahead and buy it. For $9.99 I can hardly think of a better deal on a bundle. Go forth and buy, minions!

GOG.com Weekend Sale – Kalypso Titles 50% Off!

Do you like simulation games? Do you like building things? Things such as buildings, cities and even life-forms? Yes, I am talking to you, you megalomaniac. If you fit this bill, go buy GOG.com’s weekend sale!

What does this strange bundle contain that it impresses people wanting to play God or mayor (or gangster controlling the city)? Well, for starters it has the wonderful, adaptable and deep Creatures series, that I as a biotech student have been yearning to play for quite some time now. All three games have a list price of $9.99. However, with the 50% discount applied, they come out to $4.99!

Then we have the managerial simulator Constructor which pretty much explains itself. Taking the role of a real-estate developer, you soon will find yourself caught in the midst of resource and human-resource management! Darn those workers getting in way of your tycoonery! This one is listed for $5.99 so it comes to a sweet $2.99 for this one!

Lastly we have the almost-successor to Constructor called Mob Rule. Remember the Roaring Twenties? Of course you don’t you weren’t even born then (and probably, neither was your dad). This comedic look into the gangster rule of the 1920s is as engaging as the original game, and with the same list price, you wouldn’t mind playing them both for the price of one, would you?

Pay What You Want for Five Great Indie Games

The Humble Indie Bundle is a is an initiative by Wolfire Games in association with Child’s Play Charity and the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) to sell a one-of-a-kind indie bundle. Adopting the pay what you want payment method, they are sellingfive great indie games with a cumulative price of $80 for as much as you wish to give them. These are all cross-platform games (work great on Windows, Mac or Linux!) and are DRM-free. The catch is that you can decide where the money you pay goes. Either it can be split evenly among the seven participants (the five developers and two organizations), or you can choose to give it all to the developers or all to charity.

IndieBundle

The five games that you get in this bundle are:-

  • World of Goo: 2D Boy’s innovative physics-based puzzle game where you control squishy goo globules to build platforms, bridges and the like. One brilliant game!
  • Aquaria: An underwater platformer where you control Naija a lone undersea dweller in search of her family. Singing magical songs and attacking dangerous sea creatures, this beautiful and arty platformer was well received.
  • Gish: Play a ball of tar. Oh yeah, this game is fresh, but not literally. Play a dynamic ball of tar in a destructable physics environment. Have fun too!
  • Lugaru HD: Anthropomorphic rabbits fighting against corruption? I don’t like furries too much, but it is the predecessor of the upcoming Overgrowth, so I’m in!
  • The Penumbra Series: There is something about horror that draws gamers into it. When a horror game dev decides to make a game completely and utterly atmospheric and tie up immersion as the most important part of the game, it delivers something unimaginably terrifying and brilliant.

New MediaGo Update Adds Multiple Download Support and More

Being downloaded as I write this, the free PlayStation media manager from Sony, MediaGo’s new update promises quite a ton of useful changes. The 91.2MB update contains these new features:-

image

  • The update allows users to download games/comics without having to connect their PSPs (PlayStation Portables) to the computer first. An amazing plus point because having to connect your device to MediaGo every time you download something from PSN (PlayStation Network) just looks silly.
  • Users can download and playback videos from the PSN and view them on their computers (in standard definition, as opposed to what one would see when they used their PlayStation 3)
  • Downloads can be queued something that was sorely missing in the previous versions and can be automatically sorted once downloaded. Very neat!

So who all have started downloading MediaGo?

Trine Available for 75% Off on Steam

Trine is a platformer that screams of uniqueness and art-style. Frozen Byte’s puzzle/platformer combo is by far one of the best games I’ve played recently in the action/adventure/puzzle/platformer hybrid/mix/#lotsofslashes genre. With a wizened narrator telling you this fantastic tale of three (two reluctant and one super-excited) heroes out on a journey to save the kingdom from the undead scourge. Sounds simple enough? Well, you can switch between Wizard, Thief or Knight by pressing 1, 2 or 3. What is the logic behind this? Well, their souls are bound so they share the same body, but different souls!

The game is also unique in the fact that it mashes up a fantasy setting with realistic physics. Throw crates and stones at your enemies with Knight, or swing from wood and shoot at the skeletons with Thief. Feeling creative? Well, Wizard has you covered as you can make crates and floating platforms with mouse gestures! There are many ways of solving puzzles and getting secret items in Trine and with four difficulty levels, the game can be played through many times!

The game on Steam is available for $5 75% off from its original price of $19.99. The update features the v1.07 patch that adds a new level called Path to New Dawn! Also, however much I show you pictures of the game, nothing will tell you just how gorgeous it really is. You can try out a demo here, or watch the video below.

Have fun playing it and tell us how you liked it in the comments!

This is the 3D arena shooter with bad-looking orbs with legs that go about shooting things randomly. Being the spiritual successor to the massively popular BaboViolent 2 (which is free, my friends) this game promises oodles of fun while delivering its money’s worth and that was when it was priced at $9.99.

For 75% off this game is an insane amount of godly awesomeness that you can play when you are bored of hardcore games or spreadsheets. It also has an Invasion’ mode where maps are generated or created by a user on the fly resulting in absolutely unique gameplay every time! Fun times ahead!

Fan Made TF2 YouTube-anima is Awesome

YouTube-anima (n): A portmanteau of the words YouTubeand Machinima.

For the lack of a better word, I created my own and left the interactivepart all alone. Why did I do this? Because YouTube user xlr105 pretty much made the most epic machinima of Team Fortress 2 and it is in the Choose Your Own Adventureflavor (although the ending is the same).

In other words, if you liked this:-
TeamFortress2
and this:-
Cave of Time
you are going to love this:-

Props to the creator for having a scene of thugs who ask you riddles. That was full of win. Also, kudos on having an innocent and cute (?) Heavy!

GOG.com Spring Sale on its Last Day

If non-evil succubae were game devs, they would be part of CD Projekt, or GOG.com. There is something to be said about the site and how well it mashes up great games, no DRM and insanely awesome sales. They are leeches they suck away all the precious money I’ve collected over days and months and seduce me into buying their great games in one of the best designed websites around. Especially when they have periodic sales for no other reason than to just have sales floating about. The Spring Sale is one of them, and it has already bitten my PayPal balance!

There’s Beyond Good & Evil a game I’ve played over at least three times without getting bored, Evil Genius which I bought automatically when I saw its price, and Fallout which is pretty much the best SF RPG till date.

Apart from that, Divine Divinity, Disciples 2 (Gold Edition), Gothic II (Gold Edition), Heroes of Might & Magic 3 Complete, and Myst: Masterpiece Edition (which I bought too seeing that I had never played the game ever).

This sale will last for just a day more so go on ahead!

So go, shoo, and play those great games and tell us which ones you liked!
