Best Buy Preparing for October launch of Apple’s iPhone 5

Best Buy Mobile iPhone 5

Today, Boy Genius Report has received a leaked document from Best Buy suggesting that the new iPhone will launch the first week of October. The note to employees also claims that Sprint will offer Apple’s new iPhone at launch, suggesting that the recent rumor is true.

Thanks to a leaked document from a Best Buy source, we have discovered that Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores are anticipating taking preorders for the iPhone 5 starting in the first week of October. What’s a tad bit more interesting, however, is the mention (and further anticipation) that Sprint will be carrying the iPhone 5 at launch.

The leaked document suggests that pre-orders for the new iPhone could begin soon, with an expected launch in the first week of October. However, the note also says that launch dates are subject to change.  Also, Best Buy Mobile managers are scheduled to have a meeting to discuss release dates for major new products.

In addition, This is my next reported on Sunday that Best Buy is scheduled to have an Apple fixture installed at its retail stores on October 21st. AppleInsider also reported in August that Apple had begun working on television ad spots for the new iPhone.

To be clear, this isn’t a run-of-the-mill installation for the big box — our tipster tells us that the request that a manager be on-hand at 6AM is out of the ordinary (they usually show up at 7AM for inventory), and that a similar arrangement was scheduled for the iPhone 4 launch.

The next iPhone is expected to have the same A5 processor found in the iPad 2, as well as a new 8-megapixe camera.  With the recent amount of leaks, I think an Apple event will occur soon.
