is down and the reason for it being stated as a Distributed Denial of Services (DDoS) attack according to the twitter status blog here and here.

Some parts of the site have been restored however the attack is still being continued and the site has been down for me here.

Many users are still not able to access the site, leave aside viewing the fail wahle

Could this be a backlash from spammers because twitter decided to ban malware links? Only time will tell, we will keep you updated with further status, in the meantime enjoy with your friends on Friendfeed, or Instant messengers.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
