The HTC One X is the Taiwanese company’s “hero” handset of 2012. The handset is a looker with extremely good build quality, a 4.7-inch display to die for, a super-fast 8MP camera, and Beats Audio for that perfect multimedia experience. Sadly, that Beats Audio is just a gimmick and is nothing but a software equalizer. All it does is boost the bass and volume, which according to HTC is enough to slap the Beats Audio logo.
A mod from XDA member, ZeroInfinity, known as One eXtreme Sound Enhancer aims at improving the audio quality of the One X. ZeroInfinity has replaced some of the audio files with some tweaked files of his own, which help in improving the audio quality of the handset. Not only does this mod promises to “massively” improve the overall sound quality of the One X, it also improves the Beats Audio effect and adds Sony’s xLOUD engine along with CM9’s Apollo music player to the mix.
Below is a list of features that this mod will introduce and enhance -:
- AudioFX DSP widget
- Massively improved overall sound
- Improved Beats Audio effect
- Louder, Clear vocals in the background
- ALSA
- Sony xLOUD engine
- Powerful Louder Bass
- More Powerful Drums
- SRS WOW and SRS TrueBass
- Apollo Music Player from CM9
The One eXtreme Sound Enhancer mod is only available for the Tegra 3 variant of the One X running on Sense 4.0 based ROMs with root access. Keep in mind that this mod improves the overall sound quality via some tweaks to the system file. Software tweaks can only help to a certain extent to make up for a poor audio chip.
