Late last week, Sprint started rolling out the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G. The carrier, however, has been slow to roll-out the update with majority of the owners still waiting for the update to hit their phone.

If you own a Sprint Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S 4G, and have root access, you can easily flash a stock rooted Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean custom ROM on your handset. However, if you don’t want to root your handset to install the Jelly Bean update, there is another trick to force the update without root access.

Here is how you can get the official JB update on your Sprint Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S 4G without root access -:

Step 1: Restart your phone once, and make sure you have access to a working data connection network or Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Head over to Settings -> Apps -> All. Once the whole list loads, find and select the ‘Google Services Framework’ app from the list.

Step 3: Now, press the ‘Force Stop’ button and then select the ‘Clear Data’ option.

Step 4: Head over to the Settings-> About Phone and then select the ‘System Updates’ option to pull the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for your Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S 4G.

If you still don’t get any notification about a new update, repeat the steps again. You may need to repeat the above steps 5 to 10 times for the update to show up on your handset.
