Manually Install The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update On Your Rooted Asus Transformer
By on February 24th, 2012

Yesterday, Asus started rolling out the much-awaited Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the original Transformer (TF101) tablet. The update does not bring many new features, except for Face Unlock, but does bring a huge performance boost. The UI has also been updated a bit, and includes a new shiny notification bar.

Since the update is being rolled out via OTA, it might take a while before it hits your Transformer. The update is also not yet live in all regions of the world, since it’s a phased roll-out. However, if you cannot wait for the OTA update to hit your tablet, you can manually install it if you have root access on your Prime.

Below are the steps to manually install the Ice Cream Sandwich update on the Asus Transformer -:

You must have root access and CWM recovery installed on your Transformer.

Step 1: If you have a Transformer, which you brought from the United States, download this CWM flashable zip file. If you got your Transformer from any other region, download this zip file. Once the download is done, transfer it to your tablet’s memory card.

Step 2: Boot into CWM Recovery. Use the Quick Boot application from the Market to do so, or manually by pressing the Volume Down and Power key simultaneously.

Step 3: First select the ‘Wipe Data/Factory Reset’ option, and then the ‘format /system’ partition from under Mounts and Storage menu.

Step 4: Now select the ‘Install zip from SD Card’ option, and then select the zip file that you had transferred to your Transformer in Step 1.

Once the zip file is flashed, restart your Transformer! Voila! You have successfully managed to install ICS on your Transformer.
