After nearly 6 months since Ice Cream Sandwich went AOSP, Samsung has finally started rolling out the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Tab 7.7. The folks over at SamMobile.com have already managed to upload the official ICS firmware for the Galaxy Tab 7.7 owners. So, if you cannot wait for the ICS update to go live in your region and want to install it manually, here is a step-by-step guide on how to do so.
P.S. – While your tablet will not be wiped clean of your data, it is highly recommended that users create a backup of their data before proceeding with the steps.
Step 2: Fire up ODIN and click on the PDA button. Now, select the firmware file you extracted on your desktop in Step 1.
Step 3: Switch off your Galaxy Tab 7.7 and boot it into Download mode. To boot into Download mode, press the Power and Volume down buttons simultaneously. When the tablet boots into Download mode, connect it to your PC.
Step 4: Once ODIN detects the Tab, it will display a random COM number inside a glowing yellow rectangle box. Click on the Start button and wait for ODIN to flash its magic.
Once the flashing process is over, the Tab 7.7 will automatically reboot itself. Keep in mind that the first boot will take some time so please be patient.
The official Ice Cream Sandwich firmware is only for the P6800 variant of the Galaxy Tab 7.7.
