Another Ice Cream Sandwich Based Firmware (XXLP6) For Samsung Galaxy S2 Leaks (+Installation Steps)
By on January 25th, 2012

A few hours ago, the folks over at SamMobile have leaked another Ice Cream Sandwich based firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S2. The leaked firmware (XXLP6) is based on Android 4.0.3, and does not bring any major visual changes compared to the previous leaks.

The ROM can be used on a day-to-day basis, and does not have any major issue as such. There is one issue with this ROM though – there is no option to switch network modes i.e. between 2G and 3G. This might be a deal breaker for quite a few people who live in areas with poor 3G signal or do not use 3G at all.

I would suggest our readers to head over to this thread for a mini-review of the leaked LP6 firmware.

For amateurs who are interested in flashing this leaked Ice Cream Sandwich ROM on their Galaxy S2, below are the installation instructions -:

The guide below and the leaked firmware is only for the I9100 variant of the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Step 1: Download the leaked XXLP6 firmware file from here. Also, download ODIN from here. Make sure you have Samsung KIES installed before proceeding further, since it will take care of the necessary drivers.

Step 2: Extract the contents of the zip file which you downloaded above inside a new folder on your desktop. Start ODIN and then press the ‘PDA’ button. Now, select the ‘I9100_CODE_I9100…tar’ file. Similarly, press the Modem and CSC buttons, and then select the ‘MODEM_I9100XXLP6…tar’ and the ‘GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC…tar’ files respectively.

Step 3: Switch off your Galaxy S2 and re-insert its battery. Now boot your Galaxy S2 in Download mode by pressing the Volume Down + Home + Power button simultaneously. Your phone will then show you a warning. Simply skip the warning by pressing the Volume Up button.

Step 4: Now, connect your Galaxy S2 to your PC. Once connected, ODIN will detect your phone and display a random COM:ID number inside a glowing yellow box. Simply press the Start button now, and wait for ODIN to flash the firmware on your phone.

When done, your phone will automatically reboot. You can then safely disconnect your phone from your PC.

If you want root access, then download the CF-Root LP6 kernel from this thread. Flash this tar file from ODIN by selecting it under PDA.
