T-Mobile G2X Gets an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Based Alpha ROM

While most of the Snapdragon, OMAP and Exynos SoC based handsets have already got a semi-working port of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, nearly all of the Tegra 2 handsets are still waiting for some Ice Cream Sandwich love. While an ICS ROM for most of the Tegra 2 handset is under development, none of them have been released to the public by the developers, since even the basic phone features are not well. Thankfully, T-Mobile G2X owners can finally get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich on their phone. The team of developers working on ICS for the G2X have finally released a public alpha build for the users to try.

Since this is an alpha build, users should not expect everything to work. Below is a list of what works and what not -:

Working:
  • Touchscreen (FULLY WORKING)
  • Hardware Acceleration (Version Not Uploaded yet – Standby)
  • Software Keys
  • Software Rendering
  • SMS/MMS
  • Gyroscope / Accclorometer
  • Proximity Sensor
  • Radio (Calls)
  • Bluetooth(Turns on but haven’t tested file transfer)
  • Brightness Control
  • Internal (8GB) & External (MicroSD) Memory
  • Capacitive Keys (Back, Menu, Search)

Not Working:

  • Sound
  • GPS
  • Wifi
  • Both Cameras
  • USB / USB Mass Storage
  • Battery Settings
