HTC One V ROM Ported To Desire HD, Desire S and Inspire 4G; Brings Sense 4.0 Along With It!
By on April 6th, 2012

Back at MWC, HTC announced its new One series of handsets (One X, S and V) and all of them were impressive in their own way. All the three handsets run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense 4.0 on top of it, and come with an amazing camera and build quality.

Even before it was launched, the HTC One X RUU had leaked online which was then ported to the previous flagship handsets from HTC including the Sensation and Sensation XE. Now, the folks over at XDA have managed to port the RUU of the HTC One V to the Desire HD and its U.S sibling, the Inspire 4G along with the Desire S.  All these handsets pack in the same Qualcomm S2 1GHz SoC and GPU, which made the developer’s job a tad easier. Considering the One V itself is a single core handset, the ROM performs smoothly on the Desire HD, Inspire 4G and the Desire S, since these handsets also include a single core processor from Qualcomm.

While the Desire HD, Inspire 4G and the Desire S will be getting the Android 4.0 update, it will only update the Sense version to 3.6 and not 4.0 so installing this custom ROM does makes sense.

Below is a list of what works, and what does not works on the custom ROM-:

  • Latest HTC One V base (1.56.401.4)
  • Android 4.0.3
  • Sense 4.0A UI (Lite version)
  • Odexed system
  • Rooted
  • init.d support
  • Dropbox 25 GB for Free
  • Multilanguage
  • Apps up to date

What works:

  • Touchscreen
  • Radio: Phone Calls, data 2G/3G
  • Original HW Accel (3D & 2D) opengl-es 2.0
  • Audio – PlayMusic – Headset (no beats yet)
  • Wifi
  • SdCard
  • All Sensors, rotate and others..
  • Hardware Keys and light
  • Bluetooth
  • GPS
  • Mount Storage to PC
  • Superuser – ROOT
  • FM Radio
  • Mic on apps

What doesn’t works:

  • camera

Since this ROM includes Sense 4.0, it also means that users who install this ROM on their handset will get access to 25GB of free storage space on Dropbox for 2 years. The camera does not work on this ROM which might be a deal breaker for quite a few Desire HD, Inspire 4G or Desire S owners. However, the developer is working hard on fixing the camera so it’s just a matter of time before the ROM is completely bug free.
