The Motorola Droid 2 is the successor to the highly popular and successful, the original Droid. The handset was more of a evolutionary update to its predecessor, than a revolutionary one. The Droid 2 also sports a much more usable keyboard than the OG. The Droid 2 is known as the Milestone 2 outside the United States.

Rooting Guide

Warning – This method will only work for Droid 2 running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Here are the steps to get root access on your Motorola handset in a very simple way-:

  1. Download and Install Motorola’s USB drivers, if you have not done that already. You can download the required drivers from here (32bit). The 64bit version of the driver can be downloaded from here.  
  2. Download the file from here, and extract its contents inside a new folder on your desktop.
  3. Enable USB Debugging on your handset, by going to Settings->Applications->Development, and selecting the USB Debugging option. Once done, fire up the MotorolaOneClickRoot.exe executable file inside, which you can find inside the folder you made in Step 2.

  1. Follow the on-screen instructions properly, and let the tool do its job. Your phone will reboot thrice, before you finally have root access on your phone.
