At the moment, not much is known about all the new features and tweaks the CyanogenMod team will be adding in CM9, which is based on Ice Cream Sandwich.
The CM team however did announce two major changes in CM9. Firstly, ADW Launcher will no more be the stock launcher in CM9. Instead, a new launcher known as Trebuchet will replace it. Secondly, the new Music Player in CM9 will be heavily customizable including support for custom gestures, themes and much more. The Trebuchet launcher is already available for Android users to try for quite sometime now.
Now, the CM9 Music app developer – Andrew Neal – has released an early beta of the default Music app on CM9. Below are some screenshots of the CM9 Music app running on a Nexus S -:

As it can be seen form the screenshots above, there are a lot of customizability options in the new music player of CM9. The music app will only work on Nexus S or Galaxy Nexus running Ice Cream Sandwich. No root access is required though. The APK file can be downloaded from here.
